Stop Trump’s Budget
Feburary 2025
Update (Feb 26, 2025):
Last night, the House passed Trump’s budget resolution. The vote was 217–215 with all Democrats opposed. What’s next? The House and Senate must come to an agreement, which means Trump’s budget must go through some more steps and many more committees before it becomes law.
California’s representatives must continue to oppose Trump’s budget at every step.
This is the latest move by Trump’s fascist administration to attack working families and immigrants by slashing access to essential resources in order to fund mass deportation. Trump’s budget will only benefit the ultra-wealthy while severely harming everyone else, including working class Republicans!
We commit to fighting Trump’s fascist policies at every turn. Will you join us?
Nine CA Republican Congressmembers voted Yes to Trump’s budget resolution. Trump’s budget will benefit the 1% by providing huge tax breaks (about $4 trillion over the next 10 years) to billionaires and the wealthy few while harming working people across the country by eliminating access to essential services that people rely on, like Medi-Cal.
Other Ways to Take Action:
- 2/28 at 11AM — Bay Area Fights Back: Join organizations from across the Bay for a convergence on Tesla this Friday. The starting location has been moved to the corner of El Camino and Page Mill Road in Palo Alto.
- 2/28 ALL DAY — Economic Boycott: Groups across the country are organizing a boycott of all corporations including Walmart, Amazon, Target, fast food, and gas. Use cash to purchase goods at small businesses if possible.
- Fight Trump & Free Palestine — Send a letter to your Congressmember: No Ethnic Cleansing of Gaza. Fight Trump. Free Palestine
This month, Republican Congressmembers are trying to pass Trump’s agenda ASAP. Trump’s cronies have proposed a budget to:
- Make major cuts to healthcare services, such as Medicare and Medicaid, which 1 in 4 Californians use.
- Provide tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy and corporations.
- Resource and expand mass deportation infrastructure, which will enable them to carry out mass deportations to separate immigrant children from their parents.
What’s at Stake
Federal funds make up over one-third of California's budget. This is what the House Republican Budget wants to cut [1]:
- $134.9 billion for vital health and human services, including Medi-Cal;
- $8.6 billion for labor and workforce development programs, primarily for unemployment insurance benefits for jobless Californians;
- $7.9 billion for K-12 education;
- $7.3 billion for higher education (the California Community Colleges, the California State University, and the University of California);
- $6.7 billion for transportation, primarily to improve state and local transportation infrastructure; and
- $5.1 billion for additional public services and systems, including environmental protection, the state court system, and state corrections.
The federal budget should reflect the needs of all Americans, not only benefit the ultra-wealthy. It is our government’s job to provide people with services that help our communities thrive. Our elected federal representatives need to protect and ensure healthcare, jobs, and education.
California must fight against Trump’s fascist agenda. We refuse to allow Trump and his billionaire friends to continue to line their pockets while attacking immigrant communities.
