A person can not achieve anything without striving for it. Similarly to get a dream job in the dream company requires you to apply over there otherwise CEO of that company would never come to know……..being a lecturer at UMT is the dream job of mine. So to pursue my dream I decided to go to drop my resume in the HR department of UMT.

Last Tuesday I went to UMT where I was welcomed by Mr. Gama, the gatekeeper. Mr. Gama 6 feet 5 inches tall was found be a very honest man as he did not let me in the premises. He was well aware that no vacancy was opened and I was not called by anyone. My all tries for convincing him went in vain. I kept standing outside the gate waiting for a chance to dodge Mr. Gama for getting in and that chance came after a little wait. A car drove in front of the gate and the lady sitting inside that car called Gama to assist her with her luggage and load. In the meanwhile, I entered the premises of the university.

University was spread over miles of lands and I had no idea where the HR department was. I opened google on my cell phone and started to surf the website of the university. I found the names of HR person but found no clue about the HR department. On my left side, I could see a small board arrowing towards the reception area. I went over there and the lady sitting on the other side of the counter asked me how could she assist me. I told him that I was there to meet Mr. Usman Khawaja HR manager. In response, she told the address/location of the HR building where I could meet him.

On each step of my walk towards the HR building, my shivering and nervousness were rising and my excitement was depleting. On the ground floor, Mr. Asif was available at the information desk who pointed towards the elevator and guided me to go to the fourth floor when I inquired about the HR. Manger’s office.

Instead of taking a ride in the elevator I took stairs and started practicing my elevator pitch. Soon I was there. I took deep breaths and bounced a couple of times to revive the excitement. I knocked at the office door and went inside the office. In the office Assistant Hr manager, Mr. Burair was available. I introduce myself and told the reason for my presence. He asked me to take the seat which I did. Mr. Burair had an extensive view of my resume and appreciated my record. He told that Mr. Khawaja had gone to U.S.A and will be returning soon. Against my point of interest, he shared his email id to remain in touch because at that time no opening was available. After exchanging views regarding changing political situations in Pakistan I decided to take way back. After having a goodbye handshake I took the exit from his office.

He ensured me that we would call me if any such opportunity will be available to offer which made me feel positive.
