The estate houses a 20th century old tea factory where tea is produced using the traditional method. It is a learning experience for children on how tea leaves are plucked and processed, before they reach us in tea bags. Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
Take your kids to the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary which houses different species of flowers, birds, and animals. This is where you can spot the Giant Grizzled Squirrel which is now an endangered species. An interesting activity for children, they will love to spot the elephants, the Nilgir Tahr, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Leopard and other mammals. There are also a number of eco-tourism activities that your family can participate in such as river trekking, nature trail, and others.
This is one of the most popular tourist spots in Munnar. Go for a lovely boat ride in the serene lake situated next to the dam. The boating hours are between 9.30 am in the morning to 5.30 pm in the evening. There is also an Indo-Swiss farm which is a highly specialised farm. Visitors are allowed to visit three cattle farms between specific hours in a day. This is certainly a unique experience in Munnar for tourists.
