A flexible schedule would be so much better for this kid all around!!!

Also, there’s a lot of issues on the school’s side when a student is continually pulled out of class! The teacher has to manage other students’ reactions (it’s not fair, school isn’t important for her so why is it for me), send make-up work home, and schedule quizzes and key activities around her. The school may be funded based on average daily attendance (ADA), so having a student who’s chronically absent could hurt their bottom line too. They could also get dinged by the state for having a higher chronic absentee rate, too. (Not quite sure how school funding works in NY, though.)
