Left out in all of this is that Mrs. Clinton and her campaign actually had a lot of damaging, embarrassing stuff to be hacked. At the end of the day, voters had additional truth about who she is, and they didn’t like what they saw. Of course the campaign charged, while never presenting any evidence, that the evil Russians were behind it all. I’m sure the campaign suspected this might be true, but they didn’t know, and the reason for repeating this speculation over and over as if it were fact was to divert away attention from the mountain of material damaging to Mrs. Clinton.
