Ready to Farm for Software Talent?
Ken Auer

Love the farming vs. mining illustration.

Its amazing how many companies are willing to throw money away trying to mine talent when history has shown that the chances of scoring big are pretty abysmal. The shortage of developers has created a hiring frenzy where people who know almost nothing can get hired, and people who know something can jump from one job to another to work their way up the salary ladder even though they don’t add much value to each company they make brief stops at.

The solution is for us as an industry to get back to our roots, to learn from industries of the past, and rediscover the value of hard work, mentoring, treating your employees (and treating your employer) right, and dedication to excellence in the things we choose to do. No shortcuts.

Its not an easy road, but the destination is so worth it.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
