This piece detailed how Apple’s values/culture will constrain the development of ML within their ecosystem. What we really need from BackChannel (and I know it’s a huge amount of reporting) Is the market overview of how Google/Facebook/Apple/Amazon differ in their approaches to ML and the development of the voice interface. My experience is that Alexa is a far better listener in terms of accuracy than Siri, but this is because of the Echo’s unique hardware microphone advantages rather than ML. We need to tease out the how voice and ML interact to get a full understanding of how ML/AI will work in different ecosystems because I think the two forks are converging.
