As the yard lights start turning off and the kids all get tucked into bed, I wanted to write a quick post about Halloween and the scary stuff in life.
Let me preface this all by saying that I like celebrating Halloween. I like candy and I like see people dressed up in the neat costumes that they have thought up throughout the entire year for this one special weekend. I love seeing the kids get all excited going door to door, getting all the candy they possibly can while putting smiles on the faces of those neighbors’ homes they stop by.
But thats about where the buck stops with me.
I hate haunted houses.
I hate scary movies.
I hate creepy/paranormal type of stuff.
Not that I wouldn’t mind seeing a scary movie or visiting a haunted house every year, I choose not to. There are no crazy religious beliefs that I have against it or for it. It’s my own personal choice.
Life is difficult for most people “as is” and it is tough to keep your mind mentally fit each and every day. When you are on the path of success you have 100 different things coming at you each and every day that want a piece of your mind, which makes it twice as hard and to decide what is good and bad.
Sometimes you need to choose the things that you absorb into your body and consider if they are positive or not. I know it sounds like I am being nit-picky, but is it tougher for me to get some deep sleep after being chased by a guy with a chainsaw through a dark forest? Absolutely. What about that girl that just got stabbed in that movie and her ghost is now terrorizing the house where she lives? I don’t care how “tough” you are, those mental images are still in your mind.
I didn’t really want to go this route, but let’s take this a step deeper. How about people that have gone through some sort of trauma in their real life. Maybe it was a terrible car accident they witnessed, or the death of a loved one, or being personally violated in some sort of way. Do you think this type of stuff is easy for them to get out of their mind?
In fact, most people have emotional pain and struggle their entire life while dealing with these types of issues. Yes, stuff like this does happen in life whether people expect it or not. But it is your choice beyond that of what goes in your mind or not with things like watching scary movies, visiting haunted houses, etc.
When you are trying to stay on the road to success, you will need to take the time to pick and choose the stuff you read, watch, absorb, and more. While it doesn’t seem like it makes an impact on you, you would be surprised at what a little bit of that stuff does to your body.
