In observational and generic terms, perhaps, but we are animals and animals are not objectively motivated by a known, internalized purpose. We respond to stimuli, and in the case of humans, intellectually seek and synthesize meaning, imposing purpose upon our perspective because it provides us with comfort. Not every person is going to respond to internal and external stimuli in a way that leads to a reproductive desire, just as not every animal will. People without a desire to reproduce are legitimate.
