Why I Support A Trump Presidency

The prospect of a Trump presidency is terrifying to both political bases. Liberals and conservatives alike find themselves in an uncanny alliance with each other as Donald Trump threatens to completely smash the political consensus and status quo.

Let’s first address what Trump is going to do and what he’s concerned with. He’s going to fix immigration. He’s going to build the wall and make Mexico pay for it. He’s going to protect the Second Amendment. He wants to decrease the amount of money spent on NATO. He’s going to fix trade. He’s concerned about our infrastructure. He’s pro-Israel. He’s best suited to combat Leftist ideology. He’s best suited to stop the hateful and divisive Black Lives Matter organization, as it’s a hateful supremacy organization.

Who Votes Trump?

Now there are various sets of people who vote Trump. One of the more interesting sets of people — the one I myself belong to — consists of women, Hispanics, gays, blacks and highly educated people who somehow vote for him. The reason is the current political parties are no longer fit for purpose. My overall reason for even supporting the idea of Donald Trump is because he is a big middle finger to an establishment that has failed. Both the left-wing and right-wing establishments have failed. The Democrats are a mess. The Republicans deserve to be destroyed as they have perpetually disrespected and betrayed their own base. The Republican Party no longer practices conservative principles in government. When you have establishment Republicans vowing to block Trump from the nomination, the message is quite clear; and if you believe in a conservative vision of the world, the Republican Party is not going to going to get us there. When you have people beating up on their own earnest supporters — most of which are good and decent hardworking people who have valid concerns about their country, whether it’s immigration or radical Islam or whatever — the party is no longer fit for purpose.

Why Are You Conservative?

The first point to be made is why I identify as a conservative — really an alt-conservative. It stems from my strong disapproval and concern for the authoritarian behaviors exhibited by American progressives as they use a variety of political tricks and to reinforce their agenda. Progressives heavily rely on identity politics to create policies. They rely on silencing speakers through derogatory nomenclature, labeling people as bigots, misogynists, racists, homophobes, you name it! — and they do not support freedom of speech; language policing and political correctness stops the discussion from even being had! We’re seeing this happen everywhere across the internet on sites like Gawker, Vox and Buzzfeed, and especially on college campuses. When you look at all of these things, the only alternative becomes apparent.

Conservatives take longer and more sensible views on things. We want our country to be prosperous, equal, and happy. We want all students to have equal access to education because it eventually reflects in the market. Conservatives and liberals want the same things. The difference lies in how to get there.

I believe in free markets, a limited government with a clear set of responsibilities, strong defense, lower spending (thus lower taxes), efficiency, self reliance, freedom of thought and expression, and in recognizing the value of institutions and community structures.

Being a conservative can be difficult and it can be easy to paint conservatives as hateful or self-interested but we’re not. It’s been a great triumph of leftist politicking to paint that different vision of how America should work, the proper limits of government, the relationship between the individual and the state, how much autonomy we should have, how much free speech we should have, the extent to how Americans allow other people into their lives — conservatives simply have a different view on some of those things. For that to be classified as hateful and bigoted, which is what the left has so successfully done over the last three decades, is a shame. Read what you want, watch what you want, play what you want, think what you want, say what you want — these are now conservative positions.
