180 Websites in 180 Days: Day 4

Today I decided to work in one of my other passions into today’s web page, working out (you see what I did there? ;) ). I created a Fitness Calculator. It displays your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) and recommended daily water intake.

I created this with HTML, CSS, and jQuery. I am making it a priority to break this cycle and learn new languages/frameworks. Which do you guys recommend: PHP or Rails? I already have some PHP experience but am hearing Rails could be more sought after in the job market soon.

I wanted to create this page for two reasons. Reason one being, when most people want to lose weight they up their cardio instead checking what they eat. Losing weight is simple math calories out must be greater than calories in! Reason two is that most people undervalue water. Most of the time your body confuses thirst for hunger! Making sure to drink water before you eat can stop you from over eating.
