Many designers take part and showcase their garments. The designers for the first show included Monisha Jaising, Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani and others. After Lakmé’s contract with FDCI could not be renewed, there was a split, and LFW moved to Mumbai in 2006 while India Fashion Week continued in Delhi.

Presently, Anita Dongre, Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra are some of the members of the Lakmé Fashion Week Advisory Board. LFW’s Gen Next programme has launched a number of prominent designers such as Masaba Gupta and Nachiket Barve. 235 designers have shown their work in the past 21 seasons of LFW. Gen Next is an opportunity for young talent to be mentored by renowned Indian designers and find their way into the international arena. The Emerging Designers category of the event is another platform for new designers. Bollywood actors have often walked the ramp during the Lakmé Fashion Week, including the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Jhanvi Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Disha Patani, Bipasha Basu, Prachi Desai and many more.

Let’s talk about who has been the perfect example of Diva, Yes you guess it right Sushmita Sen. She was the epitome of grace as she strode down the ramp on second day of LFW 2018. She grace the stage on 2nd day and was the showstopper for for RmKV silk with a unique saree that could be worn in 4 different ways.

Reversible Saree

She wore a reversible saree (a fine blend of jumpsuit and the traditional kanjivaram saree). The saree has 4 stunning pallus, 4 matching borders and 2 distinct bodies. It is woven using the heritage label’s patented weaving technique and has two different sides to the same saree.

She made a grand entrance by giving Adaab. She begins to unfurl the double-sided saree. She shows off one side, with pink, violet and gold stripes. She displays the second side of the reversible saree, a deep purple.

The star was the showstopper for label RmKV, which showcased a wide range of reversible, innovative draping and lightweight silk sarees. The actress walked the ramp at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week 2018 Winter/Festive edition for a Chennai-based RmKV silks. It was for label called Recrafting Traditional Silk in Collaboration with fashion designer Sunita Shankar. But that isn’t even the best part. The highlight of the entire show was that she wore the silk with a jumpsuit and nailed it too.

What was different, however, was how she wore the traditional Indian garment in a reinvented form. She wore a heavy Kanjiwaram saree with a customized one-piece jumpsuit as she walked down the runway. And her hair left lose with center parting and minimal makeup, Sushmita was raring to go in the look.

Overall, she again proved it why she has been called as Miss Universe. With her confident smile and perfect walk stolen the show. And made her highlighted for this show.
