Why ex-founders can be best employees?

Many companies are closing down and the reasons can be many. The founders of those companies can be the best set of employees for another start up or a company. They exactly know what it takes to run a company and what is being expected from a employee.

To justify this thinking I have approached it with three legged stool analogy of Homeopathy, which Rajiv Bajaj has spoken about in his famous Nasscom speech.

The three levers on which I am presenting my case are :
1. Values 2. Skills 3. Learning.

  1. Values:
    Great performing companies in the world are also the best place to work for consistently all over the world. This is an astonishing fact, that is why it is of utmost importance. The great work culture is made where the employees have great values & ethics. Great values refers to integrity, empathy, meritocracy and so on. Most of the companies believe in almost the same values. Entrepreneurs understand the need of those values and have that mind set. 
    Rightly said by Oprah Winfrey about the values, “ Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.”
  2. Skills:
    Not degrees but the skill is what matters in a real world job scenario. We all know this, but in this fast paced environment of a start up it becomes inevitable for a startup employee to pick up skills which are not his/her core competency and deliver the work at any cost. This makes all employees become multi skilled and have more empathy towards each other. As a founder, they have diverse experience and understanding of different domains and definitely comfortable in picking up skills which are necessary at that moment for the business.
  3. Learning:
    Many startups have certain same sets of problems that is why they approach to mentors who have knowledge about the operations, processes and other such nitty-gritty. This ex-founders of a start up can become internal mentor for such operations & processes as they have immense learning in these domains. Apart from this many problems in any company needs out of the box thinking and the guts to implement it. Implementation of this out of the box strategies also have a bit of risk involved in it, which this folks have guts to take those risk and execute it. 
    Apart from that they also keep learning from the books by great writers to gain skills like books by Tim Ferris, Robert Greene, Peter Theil who has given amazing tips on startups, emotional intelligence and acquiring skills. I have personally ready many of them and they are must read for any on.

As said by Mark Cuban, “ Because if you’re prepared and you know what it takes, it’s not a risk. You just have to figure out how to get there. There is always a way to get there.
