The Line

The Line will form if based on chance,

Watch it pass, let it adorn,

It might not be the night you chose,

But if it rose, then do not mourn.

You can see the line through people’s day

Through how they act, and what they say,

If they attract their luck right back,

Or if they cash in rightful scorn.

Or if it’s tragic Circumstance,

Without reason, based on chance,

The Line will form without mercy,

Controversy: from which it’s born

Born to live and born die,

And doomed to give a foreign eye.

The Line will strike through brain and mind,

Defined by past, place, and time,

If it is crossed, it shakes and jerks,

For the work is more than most,

It fails, derails, from exhaust,

And has been known to kill its host

The Line is crooked, based on chance,

Perhaps intently, wrong and flawed,

To cross the line, may end facade

But one must do it, gently
