Those are very good points. I would add that being honest doesn’t mean being brutal. Being honest with someone we love requires us to be tactful with that person. Some people handle direct honesty, others require other ways of getting there. The end is to uncover a truth for the other person in the most constructive way. The way to achieve it will depend on each person, but that doesn’t mean, imho, we should hide the truth from them or disguise it, or remain silent. Relationships are built on trust, and if I can’t trust my partner to help me grow into a better person, better friend and better partner, then what’s the point?
