I like the simplicity of “x” for all who are gender non conforming. It is indeed “a thing” and has been “a thing” for a long time. It’s just that our thing has been hidden in the back of the closet behind a great many other social inequalities.
An “x” on forms and documents frees we non binary people from either/or in the legal world while retaining the freedom to self describe our identity. (How many options do social media offer now??)
And for all those interested in stats and restroom options — just imagine how an “x” could mark the spot, either on charts or toilets.
