I should focus less on identity and more on being. I.e. not “who am I?” but “what will make me better/happier/improve my life?”
I think that’s an extremely valuable perspective. In my own counseling sessions, I’ve had to face that question in terms of “What DOES make me happy?” It’s been part of my path of discovering my authentic self.
Very nice to read your story … even if, and perhaps especially because, there were many barriers to overcome. The more hurdles achieved, the sweeter the victory.
