Ulta Beauty August Ad Review

Welcome to the first edition of my Ulta Beauty monthly ad reviews! This is the beginning of a monthly segment I’m starting. If you are a member of the Ultamate Rewards program as well, you likely receive the magazines in the mail each month. All the beautiful photos of colorful beauty products can be overwhelming to comb through and decipher what is worth purchasing… Well, I’m here to give you my short list to make it easy for you! I’ll discuss my picks, broken up by category, below and why I think they’re worth a try or interesting.

Please comment below what you’re interested in trying at Ulta and why! Do we have any common interests? I’d love to hear from you!

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub (Pg. 2) … I see this product made it onto Ulta’s “Rising to the Top” list — and I can agree with this pick! I’ve been using this face wash for a couple weeks now at night and it has been delightful. It smells lemony-fresh, a little goes a long way, and is known to be a “clean” beauty brand. I highly recommend adding this to cart.

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum (Pg. 2) … This was also featured on the “Rising to the Top” list at the front of this month’s magazine. I’ve had a sample of this serum sitting in my travel size/sample box for an embarrassingly long time now, so I’ll see about incorporating this into my system in the near future!

Cotz Face Prime & Protect Tinted SPF (Pg. 23) … While I have been inside the majority of the summer like that vampire I am (haha), I’m hopeful that with Fall rapidly approaching, I can hit the trail behind my house more often! That being said, I’m hoping to give this sunscreen a try. I’ve heard that it works well both alone and under makeup, and I’m looking to offer more options to my active/outdoorsy friends! This may be one of the answers I’m looking for!

CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser (Pg. 33) … This is a longtime favorite and routine staple for me! I cannot recommend this product to you enough. The Salicylic Acid in the cleanser helps promote dead skin cell turnover. If you ever wondered how you could possibly be struggling with acne despite a rigid routine — this may be the answer you’ve been looking for! Without the excess dead skin cells, your pores have fewer clogging agents to deal with at once. On top of this selling point, the scentless formula makes it sensitive skin friendly.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (Pg. 33) … I. Can. Not. Stress. This. Enough. You need this mask in your life. This thin, raspberry colored liquid is a chemical peeling mask, working to gently exfoliate your skin with gentle acids instead of physical exfoliation. The results are stunning and nearly instant. I use this mask twice a week for no more than 10 minutes — without fail, when I look at my skin the next morning, it is always visibly smoother, less irritated, and glowing. I will never not have this product in my skincare arsenal.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Putty Bronzers (Pg. 4) … I’m a bit behind on the putty products at this point, so I would really like to try both the bronzers and the blushes, but I’ve heard wonderful things about their ease of use and the color payoff/build up. The price point is a given, as E.L.F. has continued to release great products at a lower price, making them a huge hit and household name in the beauty community. Something to note that I’m seeing, however: The shade range is better on E.L.F.’s website than on Ulta’s, so if you don’t see something akin to your skin tone on Ulta first, I would hop over to elfcosmetics.com to double check.

Benefit Lash Dream Team Mini Mascara Set (Pg. 16) … I’m not typically drawn to bundles or minis like this, but I thought this was an excellent deal for three mini high-end mascaras. The Roller Lash Mascara has been a longtime cult classic, and paired with two of the brand’s newer launches is a steal for just $24 (advertised as a $41 value). Considering one mini mascara from Benefit costs around $13, I would snatch this up if you’re a Benefit lover, or looking to try some newer mascaras for your collection.

Buxom Limited Edition Full-On Plumping Lip Cream and Polish (Pg. 17) … Ohhhhh how this makes me excited for fall! The shades advertised range from deep brown to pumpkin orange, and while that can sound intimidating, these are bound to look becoming on all skin tones. Buxom is well-known for their luxury lip glosses, so combining the favorite formula with fall colors and pumpkin spice scents, I may have to splurge and give these a try. At least one of them… But which one?!

Bare Minerals Mineralist Eyeshadow Palettes (Pg. 19) … This launch complicates things for me personally because I still haven’t bought the other palette from them that I wanted a few months back (I’ll talk about that another time). That being said, this launch has caught my eye! They have five palettes available, so plenty of color combos to find one that speaks to you. Personally, I’m leaning towards the purple hued one called “Heathered.” I have not heard about the quality yet since this is a new launch, but the colors are warm and happy, but vary enough to suit most smoky or neutral looks!

MAC Magic Extension 5MM Fibre Mascara (Back Cover) … This caught my attention because I’m a huge fan of “Christmas tree shaped” mascara wands. Every brand has been creating their take on Thrive Causemetics’ tubing mascara, so I wonder if this is what’s happening here. Either way, $25 is standard for a high-end brand mascara, and I must say, the pictures are appealing to me. I may give this a try soon.
