ARE YOU READY TO “BE INTERESTED’’?
Try to be interested and you will be welcome anywhere. That famous quote was from Dale Carnegie in his book “How to Win Friends & Influence People”. It is easy to artificially portray yourself in front of others. Make people to mesmerize you by self praising and bragging. That charisma will carry on until people start moving away from you. This is the point where you will lose the plot because they are not always willing to listen you, sometimes they want you to listen them will full heart.

So this is the time that you should try your new outfit. But this outfit will not show how you look to others, it will show how you feel to others. Do others feel your presence? If not then it’s time to be interested, not interesting. You have to listen and care for them. Dale Carnegie wrote an incident in his book about Charles R. Walters. He was assigned to form a confidential report on some organizations. So he went to the president’s office but the president was ambiguous and showed no interest. As a result, Walters failed in collecting any data but he recalled one incident from his meeting where a lady came to president’s office and told him that she didn’t have any stamps for him today, then president told Walters that I am collecting stamps for my son. So he collected the stamps from the foreign department of his bank and told the president that he had some stamps. He invited Walters for a meeting and gave him very important information that he wanted. This story gives us a lesson that when you show affection to others, they will mostly pay back you the same.
I have also tried to make myself interested instead of interesting. I was assigned a project work in my training program solely for this purpose. It was not easy because asking people about their life and future goals and then listen them with full devotion is a tough ask. Still I managed to find one friend, I asked him, How are you? What are you doing these days? What are you future goals? Are you facing any challenges these days? He explained me his present situation, challenges he was facing as well as future endeavors with calmness and ease. So overall that experience was very good. There was a lot of learning in this activity. I hope to strengthen this skill of being interested. Hope that you will develop this too. Good Bye !!!
