After last week’s guest speaker Kevin Koehn from Web Talent Marketing spoke about ads, I realized my knowledge in a paid advertisement was limited. After the questions I asked in class and then doing my own research, including talking to my coworker who is in charge of advertising in our marketing agency, this is what I found out.

Yes, you should implement your paid ads with your organic social media growing to reach your objective. The road to get there can be bumpy and you should be always be prepared.

I checked my go-to blog post, “How to Create a Social Media Marketing Plan From Scratch,” to find out that I’m missing some info I should have had on my social media platforms. I decided to share with you some of the best practices tips to be aware of before you get into paid ads.

Authenticity:

We might have seen ads that are very good and then went to check out their page and backed off. We get that feeling that they just want to steal our money, right? It could be many things but here are the red flags.

  • profiles with no about us info
  • Poor contact
  • Few posts
  • Low engagement
  • Not a lot of follower
  • They had a lot of posts, but they shout to give me your credit card number.

How to avoid these.

I feel like these are self-explanatory but running ads when your social media profile is not complete is just not trustworthy because of all of the fake ads out there nowadays. Create enough engaging posts and make sure every post is beneficial and gets your customers to interact with it. I recommend your posts to be consistent and up to date.

You should keep an eye for relevant events and holidays and post about them. It won’t take you long to create a Christmas post and include what you are providing or some kind of sale you are having. For example “Christmas is around the corner, have you bought your Christmas tree yet?” and then later follow up with a “We wish you a Merry Christmas from your tree company”.

Here is the posting format each month. 4 or more posts, but don’t go overboard.

  • Educational: Educational posts are meant to provide value for the customer without having to ask for their credit card number. the traditional marketing approaches no longer attracts consumers to become customers. It could be a recent blog post you created answering all the questions they might have before making the purchase.
  • Reviews: According to bright local, 88% of people read reviews to determine the quality of the local business. The customers tend to trust reviews. Every time I shop on Amazon, the first thing I look for is reviews to determine if I buy the product or not.
  • Sale: If all your posts are educational, you won’t get ROI. You need to post about your services or products that you are providing, but make the posts exciting.
  • Interactive: It’s about the experience that you can create for your customers and the relevancy of the posts that will make them engage with your post. Here are 11 Interactive Marketing Examples That Inspire, Engage, and Convert

Note: videos are the best trend these days if you have the budget for it.

After you have filled out your profile on social media and have enough info about you and your business vision, you can start running ads on social media platforms. If you don’t know where to start, here are some classes you can take to help you grow your business with paid ads.
