I’m a non US citizen deeply worried about the rise of Trump and everything he represents…. and I must say listening to this podcast deepens my worry. It seems to me that John Favreau and his colleagues are misunderstanding the depth of the crisis and the nature of the threat, by seeing this whole thing as a battle of the stupid against the informed. I understand their frustration and their sense of disgust with the way the media keep getting it formed, but sarcastic snarking is not going to win the way forward. The key issue is to understand the extent to which Trump is managing to appeal to real disaffection, and the extent to which HRC is not managing to get round her image as an elitist. This is the real point of the health crisis. The point is not whether she is sick or not, or whether pneumonia is a big deal or not. The point is that she’s been caught being economical with the truth yet again, and this reinforces her image as a distant elitist who can’t be forthright or transparent.
