This is the Philippines. Third world country, people here use their culture and morality to judge and bring other people down, corruption within the government, people wouldn’t cooperate with simple rules and instructions, poverty, slow internet connection and traffic. These are some of the issues and problems inside the country however what’s more alarming is that, parents in the Philippines believe that their children will soon give them the life they wanted instead of giving their own child a life he or she needs.

They make the child go to school, feed them and dress them so that later on..in the future, when that certain kid is successful he or she will help them up on poverty. People here believe on that, one of the reasons why none of the family members are not satisfyingly successful. When they were still supporting you on school, they weren’t having a hard time on the bills but now, that you finally have a stable job..they call you up, ask for money for the electric and water bill, the groceries, your siblings allowance, the house maintenance and other expenses yet during the time you had no work they weren’t asking for help. It’s not wrong to help our family, what’s wrong is that this belief is the reason why Filipinos are somewhat poor. What happened there? What happened to moving out? What happened to building the life you wanted? What happened to travelling around the world?

Remember, our parents have a huge responsibility for us. Making us go to school is mandatory, it’s what should be done. It is not our job or we are not obligated to repay them. It’s okay to help but leave something for yourself, keep moving forward.
