There are several tools available to test the security of computer systems and networks. Some of these tools are open-source, while others are commercial and require a license.

Software tools used for network testing include:

1. **Nmap/Zenmap:** This tool helps discover computers and the services they’re running on a network. It’s like creating a map of the network to see what’s there.

2. **SuperScan:** This software scans for open TCP and UDP ports, checks what services are running on those ports, and can run commands like whois, ping, traceroute, and hostname lookups.

3. **SIEM (Security Information Event Management):** This technology is used in big organizations to report real-time security events and analyze them over a longer time.

4. **GFI LANguard:** This tool scans networks for vulnerabilities and helps identify areas that need better security.

5. **Tripwire:** Tripwire checks if your computer’s setup matches the rules you set. It makes sure everything is how it should be.

6. **Nessus:** This tool finds weak spots in a system, especially those that can be accessed remotely or are set up incorrectly. It focuses on TCP/IP issues.

7. **L0phtCrack:** This tool checks passwords to make sure they’re strong and not easily guessed.

8. **Metasploit:** Metasploit provides details about vulnerabilities and helps in testing how secure a system is and even in developing ways to protect against attacks.

These tools help experts check the safety of computer systems and networks and find ways to make them even more secure.
