Remove Your GODDAMN Shoes!
Funny title? Maybe, makes no sense? You think?
First of all, let me make a disclaimer: I am not a native English speaker, please, forgive my so-so writing skills. Thank you
Anyways, let’s get back to what I want to say. What do I really mean by this title? Not random, I can assure you! Well, let me tell you a short story, that happened today, this very morning. My wife and I went for a run around the mountain next to our home, and as we got down to the bottom of the hill before hitting the mountain trail, there lies ahead of us right on our path, a river that managed to flood the dirt road. Every single person that looked at this decided to turn back, as it seemed impossible to cross. Not to us! We stared at the thing for just a few seconds and we knew one thing: WE ARE NOT TURNING BACK! My wife was as determined as I was, so we only had to find a way. Because we know that, where there is a will, there is a way. Guess what we did? We removed our shoes, rolled our pants and decided to cross the river. it was freezing cold and rough, but that didn’t stop us! As we got to the other side, people were looking at us as we were some kind of crazy people. But we were not! The only thing we are crazy about is the never give up attitude. Even though we crossed, and yet no one dared to follow us. AMAZING! I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful the trail got beyond that point (Picture attached). It was incredibly beautiful and yet people missed it because of a very small adversity.
If there is one thing that I believe in more than anything, it’s that the word impossible should be removed from the dictionary altogether. It just hinders people’s ability to accomplish wonderful things and reach their full potential.
I remember when I was in the military, I knew deep inside of me that I didn’t belong there. It was not the life I dreamed about. Let me tell you something, leaving the military was not an option that was given to anyone. It was simply -IMPOSSIBLE- from where I come from. But for others… Not me! With the power of the will and determination, I got out with an honorable discharge and kept all my retirement! That was because the word impossible didn’t exist for me!
There is a line that I absolutely love in a very funny movie “Galaxy Quest” (Here you go, free commercial, LOL). The commander of the ship had one line he lived by and that was “Never give up, never surrender, full speed ahead!”
