Keywords employers use in job ads
Job ads can be intimidating especially if your new to looking for job like me and almost every other college student. But there is a technique to make sifting through all that information on a job ad easier and understanding what the employer is actually looking for in an applicant. That technique is called key word research, keyword research is about reading through a job application and picking out the “key words” these key words are usually the descriptors for what they are looking for in an applicant. This blog is a reflection of a Keyword research activity I did on Jobs and internship ads in the finance field. Doing this research helped me get a grasp on what these companies look for in a recent graduate and there was a lot of commonalities between the companies I looked at. The most important Keyword I discovered were Finance, Communication, Reliable, Analysis, Degree, Writing, Presentation, Skills. Knowing that almost all 5 applications I looked at mentioned these one way or another I will build these skills now in college so i stand out in the stack of resumes when it comes time to apply for these jobs.
