A Mission Statement of Sorts

Welcome to Ars Nihil, a blog-magazine written and edited by complete amateurs and absolute beginners who love what they do. Our primary focus (as the editor admits he can’t actually pay anyone at this time) is to provide a place for aspiring essayists of all ages to gather together and post their best work. We’ll be mostly focused on in-depth and insightful essays & nonfiction covering lesser-known or talked about subjects. We don’t judge based on form or overall subject — you could find a history on an obscure Napoleonic War battle one day, followed by a study on mushroom cultivation the next — but we’ll have no use for the hot-takes or overwrought personal stories that seem to crowd most sites these day. (Anything based heavily in pseudoscience or conspiracy theories will never make past the editor either!)

So join us either as just a reader or perhaps as a contributor on what should be an interesting journey.
