Wonderful read. 
But, for a counter view you’ve missed the fandom associated with Silicon Valley nerds. They are nothing short of heroes, not just in the West but also the East where I hail from. They are cool, classy and even intimidating(in a positive sense) to most people you refer to as idiots. The kind of people you’d think twice before cracking a joke on. Perhaps it’s their fame and wealth that makes the idiots shut up. Money does that to us. It gives us an elevated pedestal.

The world has historically been mean to people with scant social skills. It’s not a function of their intelligence IMO.

Maybe nerds should do what you did. Start branding everyone else as idiots. A critical mass of nerds ganging up against the ‘cool’ ones, may trigger a chain reaction.
