84 Hours in Kathmandu, Nepal — a culinary delight!

Here I am, back in Kathmandu after 17 days in the Himalayas. How surreal is this! I didn’t see anything on my arrival and now have 3 1/2 days to explore this city! Spoiler alert — there will be a lot of food pictures. Kathmandu surprised with an incredibly delicious kitchen! So put on your shoes (no flip-flops recommended here!) and discover my personal Do’s and Don’ts in Kathmandu with me!

Basics:
Date of stay: March 29 to April 2, 2023
Cost of cab ride to the airport: NPR 600–800 (USD 4.50–6), depending on your negotiating skills
Tourist area: Thamel with many restaurants and even more outdoor stores

Do’s

Treating oneself to a massage is a delightful experience. I had the pleasure of lying down for a 90-minute session at the Zen Spa Healing Centre, indulging in a ‘Zen Healing Massage / Trekkers Massage.’ The cost for 90 minutes is NPR 5000 (USD 37), and for 120 minutes, it’s NPR 6500 (USD 48). Highly recommended!

Exploring Kathmandu on foot is a wonderful way to immerse oneself in the city. Except for the airport, I avoided cabs and discovered the streets on foot. Even the slightly more distant Buddha Stupa is easily reachable on foot (about 6 km from Thamel). It’s delightful to stroll through narrow…
