General vs Specific

How being specific can change things for you

“I am not good at sports” is a general statement. By stating and “believing” in this statement, you have pretty much sealed your fate.

How can being specific make a difference ?

“I am not good at playing team based sports, because I find it difficult to synchronize my actions with others” may reveal an insight to you that you might consider more “individual” based sports like Tennis for instance.

By “drilling down” to the specific, you make the critique more objective and potentially “solution” oriented rather than judgemental and close ended.

Do a General vs Specific audit on your beliefs and discover where by having “generalized” beliefs is not working for you and if so, how can you break out of it’s hold by drilling down to specifics.

Try it out ! By shifting from General to Specific, you get more mindful and importantly “take back control”.
