Keeping the flow going

without forcing it

This blog writing effort is dedicated to creating habits that work for you in life. They should be :

  1. Meaningful
  2. Put on auto-pilot so the consistent action becomes a no-brainer
  3. There is a component that keeps stimulating you, so the consistency does not become monotonous

Yesterday, I broke the streak ( 220+ days of writing every single day) because I felt my writing didn’t adhere to the above criteria. It wasn’t because I am traveling and out on a work project as I could have easily made the 10 minutes that it takes to write.

Today, that non-action has helped me reflect and re-clarify my purpose and intention behind the exercise in the first place and I am happy that I took that pause.

The clarifications have helped me realise that besides the ‘automacy” of the action, the meaningfulness and stimualtion part of the habit is equally important !

The other rule I didn’t break was it’s ok to break a good habit for a day, but don’t do it for 2 days !!
