Moving to a collective tune

The rhythm of nature or is the other way around ?

Isn’t it amazing the way birds fly together in formation ? They seem to be doing it as if they have rehearsed it for years !

So, there seems to be something each individual bird tunes in and suddenly its the formation that matters.

We as humans are not so different. We tend to slip into group think quite often too. It could be dancing to the hottest tune across the globe transcending race and culture-something like what happened with Pharell William’s “Happy”.

Our Groupthink behaviour does not always demonstrate “happy” notes. Its the same when we are a mob or a rioting force.

The responsibility then lies with the catalysts or leaders of the movement to channelise.

Once channelised, it is definitely a powerful force for positive change.

The difference we do have vis a vis the birds, is that we can still question our role in the “groupthink” and ask ourselves if the behaviour is productive or not. If not, maybe we can distance ourselves from the action. That’s what meditation / mindfulness can help us do and not blame everything squarely on “mob mentality”

Hmmmm…
