The answers show up when you are in YES mode.

Yesterday, the above insight showed up in two instances

1. Saw a video of Brian Johnson curating the amazing book by Patricia Ryan Madson who uses “Improv” as a powerful metaphor to living an actualised life. http://www.amazon.com/Improv-Wisdom-Dont-Prepare-Just/dp/1400081882/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432276354&sr=8-1&keywords=Improv+wisdom

One of the key points that Brian gushes about is the “Secret Password” which according to her is saying YES in life. That’s what a good Improv artist does – goes in with that attitude and shows up … ready for anything. This is of course in contrast to being closed, not open and having preconceived notions about what’s “should” come up.

You must watch Brian do this http://youtu.be/cvI3k4NCtR4 !

2. The same Insight hit me again (guess I was getting closer to Yes !) while indulging in a re-run marathon viewing of Aaron Sorkin’s “The West Wing” which I have always maintained demonstrates the most sensitive and beautiful writing efforts I have seen till date on TV. Wifey and I are watching an episode or two every evening as an attempt to finish this amazing piece of work ( first time for her and second attempt for me – though I only managed to reach half way the last time to Season 3 or 4, so we are both motivated to see it through !)

In yesterday’s episode (Season 1 Episode 14 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0745683/?ref_=ttep_ep14),President Bartlett (Martin Sheen) is humbled by a realisation thanks to a conversation with a Priest where he was seeking “answers” to solve a specific moral dilemma. The big point here, was that the answers kept coming to him in various shapes and forms, but because he was not in YES mode, he didn’t see them as answers, till the priest made him realise so. That realisation was so powerful and shocking for him, that the episode ended up with the President seeking confession from the priest right there in the Oval Office !

My reflection

I do realise myself how many times in life, I may have been in NO rather than YES and may have squandered the very opportunity that I was seeking in the first place ! Please treat this as my confession !
