How to find a freelancing project as a beginner? (Step-by-step guide)

Freelancing is something which attracts everyone, but very few gets client and make them satisfied by their work.

We can find a lot of videos on YouTube and other social media platforms giving different roadmaps to be a successful freelancer. But all of them lags to deliver the basic architecture of the platform. In this blog we are going to learn step by step guide to find freelancing project as a beginner.

I will divide the process into two categories, Pre Platform Sign Up & Post Platform Sign Up (Here platform refers to the website through which you will freelance).

First Category: Pre Platform Sign Up

This category includes all the steps you need to do before signing up to a freelance website.

Step 1: Know your field.

Know your field in which you can be helpful for the client. It helps you to differentiate your work according to the demand. Some of the fields are listed below.

  • Writing & Translation
  • Video & Animation
  • Music & Audio
  • Programming & Tech
  • Business
  • Lifestyle
  • AI Services

Step 2: Know your sub domain.

After knowing your field, under that field collect information about your sub-domain . For example, if you selected Video & Animation then there are different sub domains in it such as YouTube video formation, YouTube Intro & Outro creation, Logo creation, Background removal, etc.

Step 3: Upgrade your skills.

Knowing your sub domain is the combined first step which every one should take. After that you know your skills now you should upgrade your skills so that it becomes valuable. Clients are going to pay you, if your services are not skilled much then it will not attract clients.

Upgrading skills gives you much confidences and clarity for your work. Giving time to upgrade skills before jumping onto freelancing increases your chance to gain a client.

Step 4: Build Projects.

Ones you have worked on your skills its good time to build projects to show case your skills to the client. Client always needs your project which you have to show to gain their trust. Try to make a portfolio to show case your best projects.

Step 5: Connect with similar people.

Connect with people who are starting freelancing this step will help you to be motivated and give you updates about different market trends. Eventully this step will also give you knowledge of different approch which everyone is trying.

Now after you are done with your Portfolio it’s time to get started on Freelancing website. Some of the common website are listed below.

This includes steps you should follow after you Sign Up to the Freelance website.

Step 1: Look for top Service provider in your domain.

Search for top service provider in your domain and look at their style of progress. Learn the presentation skills you need to have to catch eyes of the client. Get all experience and catch things which are going great for them.

Step 2: Keyword Research

Do a deep keyword research and try to figure out the keywords trending in your work domain. Use them in your pitch to stand out and get client notice.

Step 3: Show off your work in your socials.

Network is your Net worth, this statement stands out in todays world. Show off all your work in social media to gain extra attention which will help you gain some critical clients.

Step 4: Ask client to give Feedback and Reviews.

Final step would be to tell clients to give proper feedback which will have a good impact to your profile.
