This Week’s Journey

This week, I delved deep into the documentation of Mojafos, working tirelessly to run all the scripts on my local machine hosted on an Azure VM.

Weekly Connect Meeting

On June 14th, we had our weekly connect meeting with all the mentors and organization admins of Mifos. Each contributor shared their updates, discussing their progress and any obstacles they encountered. This collaborative session was incredibly helpful, as it provided a platform for problem-solving and mentorship, ensuring everyone stays on track.

Inauguration Ceremony Highlights

For those who couldn’t attend the C4GT’24 inauguration ceremony, here’s a quick summary of the highlights:

Building for the Nation and the World:

Our chief guests, Sh. Abhishek Singh (CEO, Karmayogi) and Sujith Nair (CEO, FIDE), spoke about the global adoption of Digital Public Goods (DPGs) in building digital infrastructure, from identity to payments to credentialing to open networks. Abhishek ji shared insights on AI’s role in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) development, while Sujith emphasized the need to ‘unbundle the form and function’ to create versatile DPGs.

Demonstrating a DPG Use Case Live:

To add a touch of excitement to the inauguration, we demonstrated the ‘lamp lighting’ Code for GovTech style. Using the CORD blockchain DPG, each chief guest logged in, entered their messages, and submitted them to the network. Once the messages were received, a digital lamp was lit. When all lamps were lit, the DMP was officially inaugurated. Amar Tumballi (Co-Founder, Dhiway) guided us through this innovative use case, showcasing how the same DPG powers Confidex with ONDC.

Throwback to DMP 2023:

Supermentors Vijayashree Urs (CTO, ShikshaLokam) and Kiran Anandampillai (Advisor, NHA), along with star contributors Rishit Gupta and Simran Nigam, shared their experiences from DMP 2023. They discussed how DMP differs from other programs, what contributors can look forward to, and the mindset needed to seize this opportunity. Their reflections were both nostalgic and inspiring.

New Dimension of Product Design in DMP 2024:

This year, alongside coding projects, we’ve introduced projects focused on product usability and design. Launched in collaboration with Treemouse, a strategy and design consulting firm, this new track aims to make digital public infrastructure more citizen-centric and accessible. Nishita Gill (Founder, Treemouse) provided insights into this track and the support that Treemouse and the Code for GovTech team will offer to contributors and organizations.

Voice of Support from the Community:

We warmly welcomed the contributors, organizations, and mentors for DMP 2024. Various organizations, including eGov, Bhashini, OpenFn, CREDEBL, a2i Bangladesh, and CDPI, shared their visions for DPI development across different countries, such as India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Mentors highlighted the importance of such opportunities for young developers and designers. The new contributors shared their journey of consistent contributions, culminating in this opportunity for dedicated mentorship.

As we continue this astonishing journey, I am eager to tackle new challenges and contribute further to the project. The support and guidance from mentors and the community are invaluable, and I am excited to see what the upcoming weeks will bring. Stay tuned for more updates as we forge ahead in C4GT’24!
