India vs Pakistan — a rivalry

Not a war, but a cricket match

A cricket match is always a big deal for both the countries. After a long time, the two teams play against each other — an ICC champions trophy match happening in England.

Due to historical differences and political/border tensions at its peak — Pakistan players are banned from playing in India. And Indian cricket board isn’t keen to visit Pakistan. So, two teams meet at neutral venues like this one.

The two countries parted after the independence — a return gift at the end of imperialism. It started with communal violence after the partition. Even after 70 years, the fight still is on — on various issues, essentially Kashmir.

Anyway, complete peace between the two neighbors is a long way to go. But somewhere, we find peace in our commonalities — music, movies, culture. Coming from same roots. We share light moments somewhere in between the tensions.

To win a cricket match is a matter of pride. People here, are always excited for — Ind vs Pak match. Even on the field, players are aggressive, some sort of sledging happens, yet there is a sportsmanship depicted from both the sides. After all, it is a gentleman’s game.

Cricket is something, where both countries fight fairly. So, as I write this, Yuvraj Singh is out. Shit man!!! Time to go back to witness the match.
First half scorecard — Pak needs 324 to win from 48 overs. Fingers crossed :)
