Another domain, another blog. I think over the course of my internet life I’ve probably started and eventually walked away from at least ten different blogging attempts. From Xanga to Wordpress, Tumblr to Joomla — I’ve tried them all, and nothing has ever worked to get me writing on a regular basis.

So what’s changed?
Well. Not a lot, but at the same time, a whole bunch. My career has somehow taken me to a place where writing (and writing often) have become par for the course. I’m either writing whitepapers on local media industry trends, or writing fancy 10 dollar word emails between colleages, or even just writing well-crafted analyst notes to share. I think that when I first tried to blog in earnest, I really didn’t know how to write without a definite path or purpose. And in that, I think I never really understood the point of maintaining a blog.
But since then I think I’ve learned some things that might help me get the ball rolling:
- I’m not the naive underachiever I once was.
- There’s no magic formula or traffic acquisition strategy I need to get my thoughts on paper.
- I’m not looking for a giant audience to read my musings.
- I’m not hoping for some viral effect to take hold when the world learns of my wit (or lack thereof).
I’m not going to hold myself to any particular standard when it comes to writing. But I am going to practice making a habit of trying to write more, and more often.
I think this little blurb here might actually be the first non-copy/paste low-effort blog post I’ve ever written. And that makes me happy.
