READ THESE BEFORE STARTING A BUSINESS
I PERSONALLY LOVE THE STORIES IN THESE BOOKS.
THEY ARE FILLED WITH STORIES OF FAILUREESS AND A CRAZY PATH TO SUCCESS.
MADE IN AMERICA -
- After 5 years running a successful franchise store, Sam had to give it up and start all over- 5 years looks like a long time and would have been easier to give up and not start again but then if he did, we might not have WALMART today.
- Never be afraid of competition or big brands, many of his competitors already had hundreds of stores running when he was just starting. That didn’t stop him, he knew and believed that he could offer the consumers something better.
- Treat your staffs/team right, find ways to motivate them.
- Always look for ways to improve and grow your business.
- Love what you do and create values for your company.
BUILT TO LAST- I picked this one from an uncles office. The prints are quite small, not so easy to read but its packed
- VISION IS KEY
- What is the vision for your company? Think long term and not only on your current product, current product might fail but doesn’t mean the company should fail too.
- Instill your company's vision in almost every employee or partner.
- Ensure that your business can operate without you.
- EVOLVE, Keep trying until you find something that works well, keep looking for ways to add value to consumers.
SHOE DOG- Who doesn’t want to read the Nike Story?
- If you love something, sports, games etc. Find a way to get involved in it, even in the smallest way you don’t know what ideas you will come up with.
- Its not easy building a company of this size. There has to be something inside you that pushes you to keep going. It will get difficult and it would look like everything is falling apart but stay strong.
- It is important to surround yourself with people who motivate you and believe in your journey.
- Shoe dog gives you a great entrepreneurial insight.
UNCOMMON LIFE-
I honestly didn’t know about TONY DUNGY before I got this book. This one is more like a devotional and packed with many life lessons. He is the mentor that everybody needs especially young boys. His stories will change your life.
I wish I could tell you that your journey will be very smooth, but your reaction to everything matters more. There wouldn’t be great stories like these without challenges. So stay strong and true to your vision.
