At its core, weight loss is aesthetic.
On “tough love” and your fat friend’s health.
Your Fat Friend

And there it is — aesthetic. You stated just a few lines up about how everyone has moralized your weight. It’s so true. Somehow fat=failure? I guess I understand where people who are constantly obsessing about their fitness may think you’re not trying hard enough. But, what if your goal isn’t the same as theirs? What if you want and/or need your body to look different? What if looking like them would be unhealthy for you?

Suddenly, you realize it’s really just about aesthetics. People don’t care about who you are, just about how you look. Hopefully, your writing will continue to help illuminate us all regarding our inherent biases. Thanks, as always, for sharing.
