Can’t Do The Same Thing and Expect Different Results
I heard this for the first time in my microeconomics class. At first, I thought nothing of this. It was a no brainer, everyone should know that. Then I looked at my life and asked myself what I was doing the same, but wanted different results. I came up with quite a few things that I knew I wanted to change. One of them being writing. I know I’m about as average of a writer as they come. I’ve never been the strongest writer but I do know I can improve. I also know the more you do something the better you get. Everything that I have done in my life has improved the more I tried it. I played tennis, baseball, ping pong, etc…All of which over time I saw great improvements the more I played.
I tried this new thing out called actually studying. It led to way better grades. In high school, my dad would often tell me to study for “x” amount of time each night and I would “study” for that amount of time. Unfortunately, there was no effort in my study habits. I would just read over what I had to learn until the time was up and that was it.
Now, as a freshman in college I spend my study time consciously analyzing what I have to learn and write notes of my notes to help memorize what I am trying to learn. I no longer am wasting time. I’m just getting done what I know I need to get done.
My plan for this post (and future post) will be to work on my writing skills and learn. I am still young but I am mature enough to realize writing will help me a lot throughout my life. One article or book can change someone’s life. If you want to change something in your life you have to work for it……so that’s what I’m going to do.
Feel free to recommend any books to read. I am interested to read what anyone has to say.
