How “A Bored Year” went from the Bored Ape Yacht Club to a multi-phase NFT project
When I became a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club it was May 1st, 2021. No one knew what this would’ve turned into and the first days we were probably less than 500 apes on Twitter. But things changed quickly and I luckily took note of every single thing that happened, included stuff that I’m sure not even the Founders would remember or know about.
After many years as a digital nomad, traveling across the world and living a non-conventional life I started to feel a natural attraction towards nomadic business models. A week after joining the Bored Ape Yacht Club I started exploring the option of opening a Glamping Resort and link it in some way to my passion for NFTs.
It took me 13 months of brainstorming, drafts of business models, quietly studying others bringing their NFT projects to life, to come out with the perfect balance between my book, “A Bored Year”, and the Glamping Resort.
Building during a bear is for long term visionaries and that’s what we’re doing here, building a big vision with a long term plan.
A Bored Year NFT is a multi-phase project that evolves from BAYC into a unique journey for web3 people, digital nomads, real estate investors and storytellers. It all begins with a book, the true story of a journey, sweet little secrets and remarkable memories of the first year of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, a personal journal of growth and inspiration. The book will be your key, your manual, the spark to open many doors and explore a world of experiences with like-minded people. From storytelling to publishing, from nomadic lifestyle to conscious traveling, from IP licensing to new real estate concepts, from adventure branding to community empowerment. All held together by a unique leitmotiv: exploring web3 as a medium to pursue your own dream of freedom.
What to expect
A Bored Year is an ever-evolving and dynamic experience and what to expect will also depend on your actions. But don’t worry, many of the features will come unexpected regardless of which path you choose for your journey, as long as you’re a holder.
Meta-Pioneers and Meta-Visionaries will guide you through each one of the phases, but you won’t meet them until further into the experience. A series of web3 and IRL utilities, some of them never executed in this form before, will compensate you for your actions. And you will soon understand that two extreme poles keep together the narrative of what we’re building together.
“A Bored Year” the book will light the spark of this expedition and it will come in two editions, Limited and Bored. A physical copy of each edition will be redeemable at no additional cost, after your journey begins. BAYC and MAYC members will be the only ones allowed to acquire a Limited Edition, while every other web3 explorer can join the adventure purchasing a Bored Edition. Each book contains the same stories but with slightly different targeted additions. The subsequent phases will be a result of The Book phase.
You’ll be the only one able to control the direction of your destiny in this journey, choosing to play or to accept your faith.
We will all be patrons of a journey that has the goal to complete its first mission on a piece of land that resembles Mars and takes its name from an ancient Levantine kingdom. On our way there, we will overcome our fears, share our journey in the A Bored Year Symposium and gain unexplored chances of freedom, focusing on experiences that combine IRL and web3 in a conscious and innovative way. This is the journey that comes after you already explored all that has been built in the NFT space.
