‘Dear Ma and Pa,
I miss you dearly.
Life’s still shitty these days, but hey at least I’ve got a baller car to show for myself. The man at the dealership kept tryna fuck with me, but in the end I’ve got an alright deal. I was born at night, but it wasn’t last night.
Ma and Pa, I’ve also got a new radio so I’m not in the silence when the lights go out. Still can’t manage to be quiet for all that long, still the same little prick when people don’t wanna talk to me. I’m getting better at it tho, as God is my witness.
Speaking of God, Ma and Pa, you be sure I’m praying every night before going to bed. Your son ain’t a prodigal one, but he’s still afraid of hell and a faithful servant of the Lord, just keepin’ that outta the way so you both can sleep at night. A couple prayers my way wouldn’t be bad either, so I’m counting on ya.
I’m not sure I’ll visit anytime soon, Ma and Pa. I know it’s been a while and I’m due for some days off, but things get crazy in the weirdest times around here. Some days I cry my eyes out and it helps a little, but tears ain’t no relief when I remember home. One day tho, one day I’ll be back to stay, and hopefully I’ll bring with me a good woman and a bunch of stories to tell. Until then I’ll keep on writing and I’ll keep on hangin’.
I’m looking forward hearing from you, Ma and Pa. It’s been a while since your last letter, and I worry. Please don’t take too long, will ya?
With all love there is,
Your son,
’
