The Curious Case of Callum Hudson-Odoi

​ The young man that is currently on everyone’s lips in England. Whether you’re a Chelsea fan, an England fan or if you support Stockport County. This kid is the next best thing to come out of these shores. However, with all the talent and ability he possesses, as with all talented youngsters who come through the Chelsea academy, game time has been hard to come by.

Most people will tell you that he’s only 18 and that he should bide his time and be patient, imagine if the same was said about Wayne Rooney or Michael Owen at the same age? The fact that he made his first senior start for England before he did for Chelsea is quite astonishing, also the fact that he’s the second youngest debutant for England since Rooney. The boy is clearly destined for the top.

Recently, there’s been a lot of speculation about whether he should:

  • Sign a new long-term deal and stay at Chelsea
  • Not sign and play out the last year of his contract and see what happens
  • Not sign and leave at the end of the current season for a fee

In the current climate with one year left on his deal he has a lot of leverage and can take his time to think about his next move. With Chelsea they have a fantastic academy that produces very good players but rarely do they ever get the chance to prove…
