It was a sunny day, when I walked into Arbisoft — A well-reputed software development organization in Lahore, Pakistan. I came to drop my Resume and cover letter to the HR and any top level management of Arbisoft. After I parked my bike I went to gate-keeper and explained my purpose of beign there. As I’ve completed the research about the company and know the HR and the top management names. So I told him that I want to meet the HR “Mr. Abdullah Faseh” personally.

Gatekeeper: Is there any appointment?

Me: No sir

Gatekeeper asked my name and checked in the list of visitors. After that he replied that sorry sir you are not supposed to meet the HR manager. It’s not in the company policy to allow any strangers to disturb the employees. After that I explained the whole scanerio and showed him my university card then he realize that I am serious and passionate about the meeting with HR manager. He make a call to HR and said that here is a student name Abu-zer Arshad want to meet you personally and he also told that the person is the same who came last week for the interview (Reachout to the HR). Finally the HR manager allow the gatekeeper to let me in. At that time the HR manager was busy with some team members in the common room. So I wait for him outside the common room and start praceting my elevator pitch. After 12–15 minutes, HR manager came out and I went to him and start my introduction after greetings. I used all the points of elevator pitch and he listen to me very carefully without doing anything. When I finished, he passed a smile and said that you have to apply online for the job application. It’s not a proper way but I just go through your CV and try to consider during the recruitment process. Then I show gratitude and kindness to him and he again point out that you have to apply online also.

It’s a big challenge to make through to the HR manager without any appointment. The main problem that i’d faced is nervousness because I don’t know about the reaction of the HR manager. But I’ve learned a lot of things from this experience like consistancy makes a difference. Next time I’ll try to go with much confidence and passion.
