“That’s nice that Nixon’s attorney general felt that way, but it’s an opinion and not a court ruling. Others are going to disagree. Trump can pardon himself. What’s the remedy in the Constitution if he’s covering up his own crimes? It’s impeachment.”

Correct, it is an opinion, and others feel differently. There was an article about law scholars being posed this question. All agree it would be a bad idea. And yes, impeachment is explicitly listed as not pardonable.

However, you also STATE: Trump can pardon himself.

You say it as if it were fact. After saying that the opinion of a REPUBLICAN AG is just that. It’s a mess. Congress will eventually have to clarify. If Trump tries, it will end up before SCOTUS. But you saying he CAN is no more fact or less opinion than Lawton’s words (which make sense).

But I would like to see Trump pardon his family. It will do a lot. It will admit there was guilt that is pardoned away. It will force them to testify if subpoenaed. Once pardoned, they cannot plead the 5th. And if they lie… they get caught in perjury.
