What a beautiful solo performance on Easter Sunday by Andrea Bocelli at the Duomo di Milano, a true privilege to watch him on YouTube.

I’ll remember his voice, resonating between strength and fragility across empty pews and vacant choir stalls.

As he walked through the bronze front doors out onto the piazza, quiet photos of Paris, London and New York screened.

I cried as he sang ‘Amazing Grace’ which reminds me of my grandmother; a powerful moment of beauty with the spellbinding aesthetics of the Duomo rising behind him as he performed with a heartfelt intensity that made millions of people feel hope and love.

To an invisible audience streaming his concert around the world it seemed like a Renaissance painting — a forbidden scene we couldn’t quite step into, separated yet linked by the realities of life, latitude and the poetic joy of finding gratitude in music, art and things that touch deep in our hearts.

One could say this mini concert could be one of his most memorable.

Grazie mille Andrea Bocelli for showing us solidarity, grace, light and hope.
