Winning People @ Work…!

We show up at work everyday, meet the same set of people and spend most of our day with them. But almost none of us could say that we’re a one hundred percent happy with the kind of interactions we have with our co-workers. Fostering a positive work environment , built around mutual respect and liking can do wonders for both your personal and professional life. And though it might feel like you’ve got a long way to go, there are pretty much just three main things you’ve got to keep an eye on.

1 . Desire to be important

It is basic human desire to feel special and important. It is an affair of self-esteem. By result, we constantly aspire to achieve higher and more special status. We want to know that we matter to others and we want to be seen. The sense of uniqueness that you provide can make your colleague extend his/her cooperation at work. How people see and think about us matters a lot to us. This especially true for the more shy people and introverts. People tend to work better with confidence when their worth is validated by the other people around them. So don’t scrimp on telling someone, if you think they’re great. Compliments and kind words of appreciation never did anyone any harm.

2. Show genuine interest in other people

Interpersonal communication is a two-way process. My personal experiences have taught me, one can win the time and most importantly, the attention of the most sought-after people by becoming truly interested in knowing them. This is a more personalized approach to winning people in an office setup. It fosters mutual help and understanding. At the end of the day, we all like the people who admire and understand us. If we want to make friends and be social, the first step would be put yourself out there, with genuine interest in knowing the people around you.

3. Drop a smile!

Actions speak louder than words; When you smile, it says, “I like you, you make me happy. I am glad to see you.” But, avoid that insincere grin that we all know too well. It doesn’t fool anyone. We know it is mechanical when we return it to others. What I’m talking about here, is a real, effortless, heart-warming smile. A spark of happiness that comes from within can change everything. Aside from being the first step on the likability ladder, a genuine will also brighten the days of the people around you. A real smile is a lifeline to anyone under pressure. It tells them, “ Things aren’t as bad as they seem. It’ll all get better soon.”

Smile, because it costs nothing and means everything…!
