A place that use to be
Portobello Road and Notting Hill never attracted me, but from time to time I have that feeling I should go and check it out (am I missing something?). After all, my last visit was almost 2 years ago, for a showroom visit. So, just before Christmas, I went for a Sunday browse and a brunch at the Electric (yes, you can always spot the famous — this time was Edie Campbell, a local.). It seems everything was a bit empty, a bit calm, seriously normal. Is it good?
Well, if I was a local, yes, very good indeed.
The Cloth Shop
The Cloth Shop is always a highlight. The displays of trimmings, ribbons, cotton, linen and wool are so inspiring that you wish you have the time to be with your granny, embroidering and sewing!
Back to reality: great finds, great quality, vintage feel.
The most amazing boutique in the area, @Couverture and The Garbstore has an amazing selection of women, men and children’s clothes and accessories. The store is in a beautiful townhouse, over three floors with a stunning visual merchandising, that is impossible not to find a something desirable. The selection of new designers and cult brands like @Rachel Comey are very well edited. Ah, and it also has home accessories and lovely books.
