‘Conqr’ the Studying World
With finals season fast approaching, along comes the realization that you probably should have started studying a month ago to be even close to being prepared for all of your exams. Yay!
If you’re anything like me, studying has always been the most unappealing part of school and it has only gotten worse since coming to university. I usually leave studying until the very last minute, putting myself in a position of pulling numerous all-nighters and my body weight consisting of 70% coffee.
Because I am a university student, obviously, I have procrastinated studying in any way, shape, or form only to come to the harsh realization that: I just have to study, there’s no going around it (unless of course you LIKE failing all your courses, then go right ahead).
However, in my search for study tools to help my lazy self, I stumbled upon an amazing tool called GoConqr. GoConqr is no ordinary study tool. Available both online and through a mobile app, GoConqr is a free program that allows both students and teachers to create notes, flashcards, mind maps, quizzes, slides, and flowcharts, to help make studying easy and interactive.
To begin, you simply create an account. The cool thing about GoConqr is upon sign up, it allows users to personalize their studying experience by separating topics in relation to their school level/profession and even further into distinct topics and courses. This way, GoConqr can specifically target your study needs and find the best tools to assist you.
Once you’ve selected, you can start creating! Click on the “create” button in the top left corner of the page to view the drop-down menu listing options between slide set, flashcards, mind map, note, quiz, or flowchart.
Let’s start with Flashcards. GoConqr’s flashcards are super easy to make and use. All you have to do is type what you’d like each side of the flashcard to say, and you’re done! GoConqr also allows you to personalize your flashcards according to colour, font, texture, etc. to make them more appealing to your liking.
Next, let’s take a look at quizzes. GoConqr offers a variety of types of questions to add to your quizzes, depending on your preferences. You can choose between multiple choice, checkboxes and true or false. You can even customize your quiz to include pictures that correspond with the questions.
Moving on to notes, GoConqr makes note taking much easier. Unlike other note taking programs, GoConqr lets you type anywhere on the screen instead of in the typical top to bottom way. You can also add extra resources, like video clips and pictures.
GoConqr also offers the option to create flowcharts. With many shape options, you can create your own flowchart. Adjust the shape’s size, colour, font, background, etc. for the perfect flowchart for your class. Simply drag and drop the arrows to connect the shapes to each other.
Another cool feature is a mind map. Mind maps are great ways to organize your ideas in a graphical way. GoConqr allows you to adjust your mind map to how you want it to look, like the rest of GoConqr’s features. The best part of the mind maps here, however, is the option to play your mind map like a video. So, instead of having the entire mind map appearing all at once, you can have it play step by step.
Finally, you have the option of creating slide sets. It’s basically a slideshow creator and offers many similar features as PowerPoint and other programs like it.
The best part of all of these resources is that they can also easily be shared with other users for studying or teaching purposes.
Don’t cram at the last minute — make studying fun with GoConqr!
