It’s been awhile but we’re back!
What’s ACM been up to???
Well, in short, a lot! Our SIGs have been working hard all semester on new innovative projects and ACM as a whole has welcomed many new members.
ACM Open House
We started off with a bang by filling up the entirety of the 1404 lecture hall for ACM Fall Open House Sponsored by Microsoft! We welcomed new and old members to listen about the exciting visions each SIG had for themselves for the upcoming year. For example, SIGMusic spoke about previous and new projects such as TweetBeat and Chroma…
First of all, sorry for being gone so long, but we are finally back!
It has been a busy start to the spring semester, as HackIllinois just wrapped up and many ACM projects are starting to being deployed in production.
HackIllinois was a departure from HackIllinois in the past, and other hackathons in general. This year the event was focused entirely on getting college students involved in the Open Source Community and as far as we know, this is the first Open Source College Hackathon ever.

From October 1st to October 4th, ACM hosted its 2015 Reflections | Projections Conference, the 21st iteration of the largest student-run tech conference in the Midwest. The event featured two career fairs, over a dozen speakers, and the Mechmania A.I. programming competition. Over 2,000 people attended the conference and over 150 people registered for the Mechmania.
The two career fairs were both opportunities for attendees to network with top-rate companies. The startup fair took place on the first of October (Thursday), and featured companies such as Avant, Sprout Social, Truepad, and a16z.
