Ebola
Ebola is a very deadly disease. When it was first discovered there were two simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan and one in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. This happened in 1976. The current outbreak is the largest and most complex outbreak so far. And as of right now scientists are unable to find a definite cure for it. The outbreak started in west Africa and is starting to spread. the disease cannot be contracted by air and can only be contracted by body fluids. Many people are worried that the disease will spread to America, which it has started to a little bit. There have been a few cases found in America of people with Ebola already. Thomas Duncan is a homeless man that was found in Texas with Ebola. He flew here from Liberia where he contracted the disease. he is currently being treated in the Dallas Hospital. It is also possible that other people, who have come in contact with him, may have contracted Ebola also. Another American who has contracted this disease is 33 year old Ashoka Mukpo. He is a NBC camera man who most likely contacted the disease in Liberia.
I think that it is important that the U.S. does all it can to help find a cure for this disease. It is also important that people who have already contracted the disease are watched closely with who they come in contact with. And people who have come in contact with a person who has Ebola are closely watched for symptoms, and avoid as much contact as they can with other people who they could give the disease to. Overall I think the U.S. needs to work hard to figure out ways to prevent Ebola from spreading and to stop it if it does happen.
